If you are a makeup collector or a beauty junkie, you have at least one Hourglass product in your makeup collection. Their products have great color payoff and beautiful formulations. I have several products that I am using from Hourglass but I will only be speaking to the finishing powder and bronzer for the purposes of this review. I’m very happy that Hourglass started making mini versions of their bestselling products. Granted that I already own the full sizes of these powders, I decided to get the mini size powders during the Sephora VIB sale.
The packaging on these powders are simply gorgeous. A high polished mirror like sheen to it. The mini sizes look just like the full size and are much more friendly to carry in my purse without taking much space. The full size is too bulky to carry around despite the compact being pretty sturdy and substantial.
Hourglass products are formulated without parabens, fragrance, tac, nanoparticles, and gluten. Plus they do not test on animals, a 100% cruelty free brand.
Their products are infused with the innovative Photoluminescent Technology. Color correcting particles that transform skin by diffusing and softening the look of skin so you get the most flattering complexion!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder | 0.049oz/$22USD mini size
Note, the ambient lighting powder is a finishing face powder. The shade Dim Light, a neutral peach beige shade gives my face a soft subtle glow. I love using this with a large fluffy brush to set my liquid foundations. I treat Dim Light as both my setting and finishing powder. I can also use this to provide subtle highlight as well. This powder gives my skin that blurred out imperfection soft focused look. Love how the light reflecting ingredients in the powder give me luminescence glow. I have normal to dry skin, so this is all I need with minimal touch up’s during the day. This powder comes in 6 full size shades and 3 mini size shades.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer | 0.05oz/$24USD mini size
This bronzer is absolutely stunning! I have the shade Luminous Bronze Light, a neutral bronze shade with subtle warmth. The marble baked bronzer is gorgeous in the pan and looks quite dark. However, once this is swept on my cheeks, it gives just the right amount of warmth with subtle glow. It is not shimmery on the skin. I like using this for contouring my face. Goes on silky smooth and is buildable if I want more pigment. I make sure to swirl the brush in the product to pick up an even amount of product from the pan. This bronzer comes in 4 full size shades and 3 mini size shades.
Overall, I have been really impressed with both the Powder and Bronzer. They are pretty expensive for a luxury brand but these will last me for a long while since they have great color payoff. The mini sizes are perfect for the value and for trying new shades without spending too much. The mini size’s will take me a while to use before I hit pan. Majority of the these are also available in 6 shade palette’s if you are looking for an all in one collection.
