The Deep Cleanse is becoming one of my favorite cleansers. It’s one of those products that I use in conjunction with Water Cream moisturizer. I am obsessed with all the Tatcha products that I have tried thus far. Love how the brand uses clean natural ingredients in their formulations. Like with all Tatcha products, this cleanser contains the Japanese superfoods (Hadasei-3): green tea, rice, and algae. It is an oil-free formula, non-irritating and cruelty-free. Keep on reading to hear more.

As always, Tatch’a packaging is luxurious. The Deep Cleanse comes in a beautiful bottle containing 5 oz of product. It is definitely an investment if you want to treat yourself to a high end skin cleanser. With this cleanser, you have to squeeze the bottle to pour the product out. Since there is no pump or dispenser I could easily squeeze out too much or have a hard time getting the product to come out. I give the bottle a good shaking, while holding it upside down, unscrew the cap and squeeze out pea size amount. I plan on cutting the bottom open to get the rest of the product out when it is near empty. I hope Tatcha can re-package the bottle making it more user friendly in getting the product out.

It has a light herbal scent that is not overwhelming. For those with fragrance sensitivities just take note of that. The gel itself is very rich and thick, comes out milky looking with bits of Luffa fruit fibers floating within the gel. I typically use this as second cleanse for deep cleaning on makeup free skin. Texture is very smooth, when applied to damp face in circular motions, it starts to foam up. I don’t mean like a ton of foaming bubbles, but rather light lather. I give this a 1-2 minute massage on my face, neck and decollate. I can feel the Luffa fruit fibers lifting and scrubbing away on my skin without any abrasiveness.

The feeling is so gratifying after a good rinse with water. I felt as though I had a facial at home. Leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, and radiant, without any dryness. I follow up with Tatcha Water Cream Moisturizer for glowing hydrated skin. The two pair well together. I have normal to dry sensitive skin and I did not have any irritations. Although this cleanser is formulated for normal to oily skin, I think all skin types can use this. Not only did it do a great job at exfoliating the surface, it feels luxurious and nourishing at the same time. I use it 3-4 times a week as my second cleanse considering I wear a full face of makeup. It is a bit pricey, but you need no more than a pea size amount of product. I definitely recommend this if you have clogged pores or need a gentle exfoliator. You can find smaller sizes of this cleanser individually or in small kits at Sephora and Tatcha to try out without committing to a full size bottle .

  1. Great review! I finally opened my sample packet. While I only got a handful of uses out of it, I liked it enough that I’ll probably purchase the full size when I run out of my existing cleanser. I feel like it cuts the grease (I’m very oily in the t-zone) but doesn’t strip my skin so it doesn’t feel all tight and dry afterwards, unlike most cleansers meant for oily skin. And the packaging is pretty, even though it’s kind of a pain to work with. 🙂

    • Thank you! I’m glad this review helped. I too get oily mainly in the t-zone and normal to dry everywhere else. This cleanser is amazing in that it takes off all the oils without making my skin tight. Yes, absolutely agree the packaging needs a face lift 🙂

    • I’m glad this helped. I love the water cream! Def see the glow in the morning!
