Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum is one of my first products from this much raved about brand. I love incorporating brightening products in my daytime skincare routine. As much as I like Vitamin C, it is usually too potent for my skin to handle. This serum does not irritate my sensitive skin like typical Vitamin C serums.

It is formulated with a special blend of white shiitake mushroom extract that corrects discoloration. Licorice root extract to reduce dark spots. Vitamin C to visibly brighten skin. Squalane to hydrate and moisturize. Majority of the ingredients are clean and toxic-free. This is unscented and there is no added fragrance.

Full ingredient list:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Squalane, Lentinus Edodes Mycelium Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citric Acid, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Gluconate, Sodium Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

I like the dark glass bottle packaging with easy to use pump dispenser. Unlike most Vitamin C serums this one has a milky white texture with serum like consistency. It is lightweight and absorbs well into skin. A little sticky when applied but goes away once it dries down. Works well under moisturizer. I have used this for a few months now and have noticed skin to be brighter and skin tone much more even.

I have super reactive skin and this was gentle and non-irritating. Surprisingly leaves my skin hydrated versus being dried out. I can easily add this to my AM routine. Although this serum isn’t harsh, I don’t use Vitamin C everyday (alternate every other day) since I do not want my skin to become sensitized.

Be mindful that it takes time and consistent use to see results. This is a high quality active for targeting uneven skin tone and dark spots. It’s more on the splurge side if this is what you are looking for. The price point is a bit hard to swallow, otherwise there are many more options on the market.
