SOLAWAVE BYE ACNE: 3 MINUTE LIGHT THERAPY SPOT TREATMENT

SolaWave Bye Acne: 3 Minute Light Therapy Spot Treatment uses Red Light Therapy and Blue Light Therapy to shrink mild-to-moderate pimples down to size, pain-free in three minutes. It is FDA-cleared so it is safe to use and proven to deliver results. The device itself is super tiny, like a fun-size candy bar. No batteries needed, uses a rechargeable USB cable. Definitely a new way to treat pimples.

This was an added bonus product when I purchased their SolaWave 4-in-1 Radiant Renewal Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy during the Thanksgiving Day Black Friday sale last year. I’ve always been a fan of using hydrocolloid pimple patches whenever I had a breakout or forsee one coming. Adding a device like this to speed up the recovery seemed like a no brainer.

It has three main features (noted directly from the Solawave website):

Blue Light Therapy – Low-level blue light wavelengths are clinically proven to destroy acne-causing bacteria. This non-invasive therapy can also prevent future breakouts by reducing sebum production.

Red Light Therapy – Penetrates deeper below your skin to help reduce the inflammation and redness associated with acne. Also can brightens post-acne hyperpigmentation and rejuvenates skin.

3-Minute Treatment – Utilizes a pre-programmed treatment session to precisely target and effectively clear mild-to-moderate acne quickly and painlessly.

**FYI there is no vibration or warming heat with this device, just blue & red lights

This device is designed to be used once a day over the pimple area for 3-minutes. I recommend doing a light sensitivity test on your arm and wait 24 hours before using over face. Just to see if your skin shows any reactions with the light. It has a one-click on and off button. The area that covers the skin is triangle shaped and with a dime-size coverage. If you have more areas to cover, you’ll have to use this multiple times to ensure you have targeted everything.

After I have fully cleansed my skin and ensured the surface is completely dry, I apply the device over the pimple and hold for 3-minutes. The blue and red lights are supposed to clear, calm, and rejuvenate the area. There is no vibration or heat from this device. Once the 3-minutes are up the device will alert with a beeping sound to move the device to the next area you want to treat. This device alerts up to 3 sessions. I prefer doing this treatment while I watch TV.

Once I am done, I typically apply a hydrocolloid pimple patch over a fresh pimple to speed up the recovery process. I’ll use the light therapy for a total of 3 days before I see the pimple reduce in swelling or size has gotten flat. It’s not magic but does take some patience and consist use to see these improvements. I do not have acne but I get a pimple here and there if I’m not sleeping or eating well. It’s nice to have a device like this handy to nip those pimples in the butt.

Overall, I have found this little device to be effective, of course with consistent use. The coverage is perfect for me in spot treating a pimple but if you have larger areas to cover, keep in mind you need to do several sessions. The size is very portable to toss into cosmetic bag when I am traveling. Unlike the light wand that comes with a case, this device does not have one which I wish they would to protect it from getting scratched. I put this in it’s own little pouch.
