Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil is probably the most luxurious oil cleanser I’ve ever used in my skincare next to Tatcha’s Camellia Cleansing Oil. This brand literally screams Korean luxury, prestige skincare at it’s finest. The most recognized brand for many Asian women in my mom’s generation and they swear by it.

Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil won the 2019 Allure Best of Beauty Award. I was so excited when I received this cleanser as a pr gift by Sulwhasoo. I’ve been using it for a few months now and totally love it.

If you have been following my blog or Instagram you know how much I love the double cleansing routine. That first cleanse generally includes an oil based cleanser in a liquid or balm form. Oil pretty much dissolves oil so when applied to dry skin with a face full of makeup, everything is going to breakdown and melt away.

The Gentle Cleansing Oil is fragranced incase you are sensitive to scents. I try to avoid scented products but this has a pleasant citrus scent that is not overpowering. The consistency is quite thinner than Tatcha’s Camellia Cleansing Oil. You only need one pump to dissolve all the makeup. It’s super gentle with alot of slip so I didn’t need to rub much for makeup to come off.

When water is added, it emulsifies into a nice milky lather. Rinses off well or I can use a hot towel to wipe off. It certainly did a good job in removing everything off in one go. My skin feels clean and smooth. I could technically stop here and be done with my cleansing but I generally follow up with a second cleanse that is gel or cream based.

It is formulated with skin-loving ingredients, like coix lacryma-jobi seed, tangerine peel extract, and apricot kernel oil to remove all impurities while keeping skin soft and balanced. The packaging looks fancy and it comes with a dispensing pump.

The Gentle Cleansing Oil is definitely a splurge cleanser if you are looking for luxury but not necessarily needed. There are other oil based cleansers similar to this on the market that are just as effective at an affordable price.
