Reading Time: 3 minutes

Not only that, we go thru trial & error and read many reviews before purchasing. YSL is one of my favorite luxury brands! YSL always pays attention to the details on their packaging. I love the sleekness of the frosted glass bottle with the gold emblem on the black cap. It looks simply gorgeous on my vanity. I can appreciate the pump that comes with this bottle. With this particular pump I can control how much product comes out, therefore I am not wasting any product.

All Hours Foundation comes in 34 shades with SPF 20. For reference I’m shade NW25 in MAC and my undertone is pink. I picked up shade B30 Almond and love the shade on my skin. With a large color range, there is higher chance of being correctly shade matched.

The texture is slightly thick, compared to my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk which has more of a liquid consistency. Since this a full coverage foundation, I dot my face with fewer dots of foundation than what I would normally do. Matte foundations tend to be thick, so I try to work the product into my skin as quickly at I can with a flat top kabuki brush. A beauty blender will sheer it out more.

There is a bit of resistance as I blend out which is something I typically experience with matte foundations. The key here is to use less product and apply more if you need more once you have everything blended out. Otherwise, you can easily end up with cake face or product drying out before you even get to it.

The coverage is amazing! I am lucky that I do not have any visible blemishes to begin with, just want to even out my skin tone. I think I used half a pump and it was enough to cover my whole face. The application left my face looking semi-matte, not flat matte, if you can understand what I am saying here. It felt comfortable and it moves with my skin so I don’t feel like I am wearing a mask. It actually feels very light on my skin.

As the day progresses, the foundation looks even better with hardly any touch ups. After 8 hours it still looks fresh with a bit of glow in the t-zone (my oily area). YSL says this is a 24 hour foundation, but the longest I have it on is anywhere from 8-12 hours. With a matte foundation make sure to exfoliate your skin and moisturize for a smooth application so you don’t get the clingy dry patches.

Have you tried the YSL All Hours Foundation? What are your favorite matte foundations?
