iUNIK is a South Korean skincare brand geared towards those who want a minimalistic skincare routine with ingredients derived from nature. This brand is just a few years old and has been on my K-beauty radar since last year but have never gotten around to trying them. iUNIK is an acronym for Ideal, Unique, Natural, Ingredients, Knowhow. Their philosophy is fairly simple: include necessary effective ingredients, simplified skincare routine, and environment friendly clean packaging. iUNIK reached out to me to see if I would like to try a few items of my choice from their collection. You bet I said “yes” !
First Impressions
Beta-Glucan Power Moisture Serum, $26.99USD/1.7oz, iUNIK Juniperry
I am completely amazed at how there is one single ingredient in this whole bottle, 100% Beta-Glucan. Beta-Glucan is a natural polymer polysaccharide extracted from the walls of mushrooms. It retains 20% more moisture storage than hyaluronic acid and helps rebuild skin elasticity. Perfect for those with dry skin. The viscosity is pretty thick, almost like snail mucin and spreads easily on skin. A few drops is all I need to cover my face. It does not feel heavy and absorbs nicely. If you put too much, it will take longer for skin to absorb. Leaves my skin feeling, hydrated and plump without any stickiness. This has quickly become one my newest hydration serums. Comes in a sturdy see thru glass bottle so I can see how much I’ve been using.
Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum, $19.99USD/1.7oz, iUNIK Juniperry
This serum contains a whopping 70% Propolis extract. Propolis which is produced by honey bee’s help to calm and moisturize skin. Contains healing benefits, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidants, amino acids and minerals. This is great on days where my skin needs soothing. It really helps to reduce redness while keeping my skin hydrated. The texture of this serum is very thin making it easy to apply to skin and absorbs very quickly. With this lightweight texture, it can be worn day or night. This serum also layers well under other moisturizers. Has the same packaging as the Beta-Glucan, sturdy heavy glass bottle with dropper.
Centella Calming Gel Cream, $15.99USD/2.02oz, iUNIK Juniperry
This is great to use if you are looking for light hydration during warmer weather. Perfect for me since I don’t use heavy moisturizers during the summer. Texture is lightweight gel with a bit of a silicone feel. Turns into a watery consistency as you rub into skin. It absorbs nicely without any stickiness and makes my skin feel soothed, soft, and plump. This contains 70% centella leaf water, 10% tea tree leaf water, and 6 kinds of sprout extracts. Centella Asiatica is known for strengthening the skin barrier while soothing the skin. Love the easy to use squeeze tube.
Overall, I like how iUNIK is natural ingredient focused with a minimalist aesthetic approach. I enjoyed using all three of these products as they were very gentle on my normal to dry sensitive skin. It soothed redness and gave my skin a boost of hydration. I love how these products are simple yet effective. If you are looking for an affordable serum or gel cream from naturally sourced ingredients, give iUNIK a try.
