KLAIRS MIDNIGHT BLUE CALMING CREAM

When our skin gets irritated, most of us tend to reach for products that contain strong ingredients in hopes to combat the situation for faster healing and relief. However, this can lead to skin being reliant on this and over time skin will no longer respond to it. Other times, using something too strong can worsen the situation since skin is already weak and irritated to begin with. The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a recovery cream that helps to repair damaged inflamed irritated skin. It is ideal for those with sensitive skin, acne, sun exposure, reduces redness, and stressed skin. I have been using this cream for several years now and use it whenever my skin gets irritated. It has become a staple in my skincare routine.

What is it
The Blue Cream is made for calming to rapidly soothe the skin in response to an irritation and assist with skin regeneration.

Claims
Effective in calming the inflammation of damaged skin tissue as well as regeneration of skin cells. Centella Asiatica Extract, a plant native to Madagascar, also known as ‘tiger grass’ and is often used in cosmetics to help regeneration in damaged skin and prevents scarring.

The packaging has a minimalistic look and comes in a dark apothecary jar with a plastic spatula for scooping up the product. The dark jar helps protect the product from being exposed to harsh sunlight. Being a small jar at this price is not too bad, considering the cream contains ingredients with the highest level of efficacy and only a small amount is needed for the affected area.

The texture is very silky, a hybrid of gel-cream. It spreads very easily on skin and can cover a large area easily with using a small amount of product. It goes on with a slight cooling effect and sinks into skin quickly. There is no stickiness or greasiness. Skin feels hydrated and moisturized. I typically use this cream in the evening before bedtime as a treatment and don’t really wear it on my face during the day. This is not meant to replace my moisturizing routine. If I am spot treating on my face, I only apply to the affected area, not my whole face. I will have already applied my regular skincare products to the non-affected parts of my face.

The Klairs Blue Calming Cream has a vibrant blue color. This ingredient is a result of Guaiazulene, a component found naturally in blue chamomile essential oils. Good to know that is it not something artificial or a color dye. Guaiazulene is known for calming inflamed skin and encourages the regeneration of skin cells in areas with damaged skin tissue. According to some Japanese clinical trials, Guaiazulene has demonstrated positive effects on sunburns and eczema. I sometimes use this to spot treat my eczema on spots that are inflamed or itchy. It helps to soothe the area to heal and stops me from wanting to scratch.

Overall, this has become one of my holy grail items in my skincare routine. I seem to use it all the time for spot treating itchy skin, reducing redness, and reducing pimple blemishes. It’s very soothing and hydrating without active ingredients. Knowing it contains herbal ingredients means that it will not sting my sensitive skin. I always have two jars on hand, incase I run out I have a back up jar in the event I really need to use it now and can’t wait to order. There are other higher price point brands on the market very similar to this product, but I find the price to very affordable with Klairs.
